Simple crankshaft question.
Ok, building a 383 for my buick gnx. ditched the 3.8. I am a Buick GN guy, but I am a bigger V8 guy too. I have a 1987 chevy 350 two bolt main, so i can out in some splayed caps. here is my question. I dont plan on all our racing. It will be my daily driver, but I want it ti be very fast. I plan on doing all the usual mods, cam, heads including mpfi and supercharging. what crank should I get??? regarding to cast vs forged and iron vs steel.
I hear that the 400 3.75 stroke is plenty strong even though its cast iron. Is that true?? SHould I bother with a forged steel crank, or will I be wasting my money???? I want the cast iron 383 crank from summit. what do you guys think??? Forged steel is so explensive, and I dont know if it will be worth it for my application.
I have also seen some cast steel ones. are those ok compared to nodular iron ones?

If your going to supercharge it i'd go forged, 5140 atleat. You could always go with a Scat 9000 cast steel crank if you were really cheap. I'd look into Scat cranks if i were you, some people on here don't like them, but they have never used them and have no experience with them. If David Vizards likes them and recommends them, there has to be something good about them.
