Steering wheel play (not gear box)
On my steering column there is an inner and outer plastic ring right behind the steering wheel (with the metal cover off).
The inner ring has a hump that is supposed to fit inside two little plastic prongs attached to the outer ring. The prongs have worn down and now the hump travels outside of them causing some steering problems. The steering wheel will stick sometimes or have execessive play. I was wondering if it would be alright to epoxy the inner ring between the prongs or if that would cause
another problem. Do I need a new steering column????Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!

It looks like it is item #3 in the diagram...the infl. restraint coil assembly. See the little hump on the outside...well that hump fits inside one of those plastic housings between two "prongs" . The hump and the prongs are warn down so that item #3 breaks free of the prongs and spins freely...giving me some slop in the steering.
The image is looking at the front of the steering column.
