Blow-by One Day, Next Day None (2.5)????
Blow-by One Day, Next Day None (2.5)????
More non third gen questions:
This goes with the post 2.5 IRON DUKE. Yesterday when I took the air cleaner lid off while it was running, I had plumes of smoke coming from inside! There is a vent that runs fresh air into the valve cover from the air cleaner, but it was pushing bad air out! My new air cleaner was toast and I had a layer of oil in just one day!
It gets better, this morning I start it, little rough, runs strong. Checked to see how much blow-by smoke there was. NONE! Everything seemed normal. WTF? One day I cant breath the next its like nothing happened. Is this normal? Would it have anything to do with my startup woes?
The PVC is new and I did put it in correctly.

Well, nevermind. Its still there. I think after she heats up the oil thins out and starts a-blowin by. Time for some oil additives! Anybody know of any good ones? I only have blow by, no smoke while driving???

Is there anyway to rig up a screen over that opening into the air cleaner? Or maybe adapt a breather filter to fit over it? That way, at least, you wouldn't be ruining your air filter so quickly.

Thats what I was thinking too. But the thing that gets me is the pcv is working; why then is the blow by coming from the spot fresh air should be coming in? If I pop off my oil fill cap the air will flow out from there instead. Its finding the easiest route I guess. I'll definetely plug that hole with a filter of some sort to buy my air filter a little time.
Would blow by have anything to due with a rough start situiation? I'll start it up, it struggles to get to the proper rpm, I put it in gear, BAM dies out. I have to feather the throttle to keep it running. (Fuel filter is my next move tonight)
