Smells like coolant when i turn the heat on
Could be the heater core leaking... If you start noticing a puddle of coolant on the passenger's side underneath the dash, that's a dead givaway. hehe. If I remember correctly, it's about fifteen dollars and a bit of patience to fix it.

Sounds like a broken heater core for sure. Another funny smell (no relaction to topic) is in my grand marquis. When I turn on the windshield wipers and press the "spray" I get a nasty smell inside the car and nothing sprays! Oh well. That car is a piece and I won't even bother pulling the error codes it keeps on through at me

IIRC, on a Firebird/GTA/TA, taking off the dash pad wont help you get to any of the bolts, but will shed some more light on the subject. There is one bolt thats real hard to get at, and the plastic cover you will have to tweak a little to get it out, but IMO nothing that will cause damage. Some dont wanna do that and loosen the dash so they can move it back a little, but I didnt do that.
Whatever you do, dont buy a cheap heater core... the last thing you want is to go back in there to replace a piece of junk for 20 bucks in savings.
