what am i missing here?
ok, in my engine bay, to the front of the distributor's remote coil and all that junk, is a metal disk shaped thing that connects to a tube(s?) going to the exhaust and throttle body. im assuming this is my egr, all signs point to yes. to the front of that and on a lower elevation is a similar looking plastic thing(circled in green) that has a vacuum connection. that is connected to two pipes that go to the exausht(if i recall correctly), and one that goes to the front of the engine, and apparently into the block(below the throttle body, definitely not into). the vacuum line that i assume leads to this has been burnt on the manifolds, possibly intentiionally(to plug it), probably accidentally. the line is the tiny hard plastic type, and is completely sealed by meltedness.
my question to you is: what am i missing by that being disconnected?
i cannot tell where the vacuum line originates from because it is wrapped up in the wiring harness and carried off somewhere.

Off hand it sounds like you are referring to the EGR valve and the EGR solenoid. The solenoid would have the two plastic vacuum lines that you are describing.
