Anyone seen this thing?
I woke up very early this morning and couldnt get to sleep. I was flipping channels, and saw an infomercial for this thing called the Tornado Fuel Saver
http://www.tornadofuelsaver.com
You are supposed to put it over the carb, TBI, or in the intake hose. It supposedly swirls the air so it mixes with the fuel better. I am calling BS on this thing, even after the Dyno test they showed. Anyone know someone who has tried it? I'm always a skeptic when it comes to stuff like this.

Yep, we tested it a while ago at http://www.v6fbody.com ... not worth much. There's a Spiralmax out there too that does the same thing.
Funny, Spiralmax says their product does the same thing that the Chevy Vortec V6's heads do to swirl air. They neglect to mention the Vortec heads swirl both air and fuel right at the cylinder; whereas in a port-injected car, the "swirled air" needs to travel the length of the plenum & runners before hitting the fuel. I'd imagine that swirl either creates turbulence, or dies out by the time it reaches the valves.
It -might- help a carb'd or TBI'd car, but I still doubt it.

Also, with 20 or 30 of them you would have to drain the gas out of the tank every 20 miles--from the huge mileage increase.

Total piece of Shit!!
Those A******s that make the damn thing are banking on the gullable American public to fall for any and every advertising scheme they come across.
Too good to be true??? YES!!!
If it actually worked, the Big Three would have built some of their own and put them on every car as a factory option to meet CAFE rules more easily. Same applies to the magnetic fuel line gizmos, and the platinum based injectable fluid....a bunch of BS.
The "tornado thingys" are nothing more than a bent up piece of scrap sheet metal. Besides, there is no way that the air is still going to be "swirling" after this contraption when it then needs to travel approximately two feet through twisting and turning air ducting, across the carb/TBI/FI opening, through the butterflies, by the venturies on a carb, into the intake plane, into the intake runners, the head runners, and then through the violent intake valve area.... Think about it.
I hope no one on this board ever orders one...I'm glad someone else posted about these things so we can dispel the so-called facts that these people claim...I hope everyone reads this thread...Never believe what you hear, and always use common sense.
I think I'm going to go crush a couple beer cans and toss 'em into my air intake ducts right now....worth about 10hp don't ya think?

Sounds like a vacuum cleaner, maybe we should hook one of those up to swirl air!!!!

Now I'm not defending the thing, but I've read (and still have the mag somewhere) in CHP about them using it. The ironic part was that on a 94 Z28 LT1, it made an additional (w/no other changes) 8 HP!!!!! But when they used it on a CPI 4.3 in a 95 S10, it didn't do squat. You would think it would help more on the V6.
Now I know this could've been a plug from CHP, but they are pretty reputable.

The induction system velocity turbolators are even more effective when used in conjunction with the Craftsman electric blower kit:
Just make sure the leaf blower swirl pattern doesn't counteract the vortex of the turbolator, or don't say I didn't warn you.
If you really want to add the power to this assembly, place a "V-TEC" decal across the shade bar in your windscreen, and another in the rear glass - I hear those are worth at least 20 HP apiece!
And whatever you do, DON'T CROSS THE STREAMS!

Vader,
If you cross the streams, you get a short cut to smores- just add chocolate and graham crackers.
I'm getting out of here before this things locked!

I heard the curb feelers improve cornering ability due to their natural aerodynamic shape. And that rear tire over the back, that will help with traction off the line cause more weight is in the back. Yea, sure it will......haha

One of my friends asked me about the Spiralmax a few days ago. I told him to stay the hell away from such advertising scams. Bunch of monkey crap I say. Maybe these things could help a carbed or TBI motor as TomP said but the swirling effect goes against everything people try to achieve in port fuel injected motors - less turbulence.

Motor trend did a test on ones of those hunks of crap a while back. Absolutely nothing happened. I laugh everytime I see an add for one. They are always in the back of the magazine in black and white next to the Sea Monkeys. Whoever is stupid enough to dump 40 bucks into that thing deserves to be ripped off.

I only wrote what I read, so screw all of ya!!!!!!!!!!! Next you're gonna tell us that cross drilled rotors with angled fins don't help cooling right!!!!!! Or that a supercharger or turbo doesn't make as much power as it should because it causes "swirling"!!!! Or how about Aquatread tires slow you down because they cut through the water instead of hydroplanning on it!!!!! Come on!!!! Or that SWIRL polished intake valves don't help either!!!!!! Wait!! Better yet!! How about lowering your car doesn't increase downforce!!!!!
Just cause you don't believe it doesn't make it not true. Just like in the 40's when everyone thought that the world was gonna be taken over by computers. Now our cars run more efficiently and can obtain more power, and our lives are easier thanks to computers. Get real man!!!!
And no I didn't buy one!!!!!!
By the way, Just messin' with all of ya!!!
LOL LOL LOL!!!!!! HEHE!!!!

I guess it's like carb spacers, sometimes they help, sometimes not. If you ask me, they're pretty smart, because even if it doesn't work, they're making TONS OF MONEY selling it. Can't knock'em for that!!
