firebird won't fly
I was on the highway today and my car made a little pow and died.I tried to crank her up for about 10 times with no luck. Then I pulled the air cleaner off to see if the tbi was spitting out fuel and with really good luck she would't turn over.No radio or gauges, nothing. So I checked all the fuses and fusable links and everything was in order.I called a tow truck and sent her to a shop. They changed the modular and the tbi was getting fuel but would not crank, just spinning over real well.my next step is a coil.any ideas before i waste any more money?

Best thing to do in order to save money... take it to another shop, if they're just replacing parts, charging you, and hoping that it'll fix it, then they arent real mechanics... or atleast not good ones.
You said "with real good luck she would turn over" by turn over I assume that you mean the starter would crank?
There's 3 things that you need to start a car. fuel, air, spark.
Put a timing light to your #1 wire, and have someone turn the car over and see if you get any spark at all.
After that, if you do have spark, pour a little fuel into the TBI and see if it just needs fuel to start.
These are simple tests.
If your starter wont crank though, please explain the sounds that it's making, if any... that should help determine what it is as well.
Then get back to us

I thought that I had ran the battery down after ten tries because when I was checking the tbi,she would't say a word when I hit the key.Got someone to jump me off and I got the same responce. So I thought it might be my modular.Replaced it and the car will now turn over.No problem with the starter.I took it to this shop because he is a good alternater and starter man.I was hoping that he could trace a wire because of the radio and gauges would not work. Now they work.
