383 stroker and L98 heads...
I'm thinking about building a 383 out of this 350 I have sitting around. I also have some cast iron L98 heads that I'm bowl blending and having rebuilt.
Will the 383 live happily under the L98 heads? I'm planning on using Comp Cams XR264HR (212/218 .488"/.495" 112°LSA).
I want lots of power under 5500 rpm and I figure the stroker is the way to go. This will be thru a 2" bore TBI.
suggestions? comments?
thanks

Comments? Sounds like a great plan to me.
Suggestions? Check out the TBI forum (if you haven't already) to get the most out of the combo.

I've been posting here for a few years but haven't been around (sold my projects) in the last year. I got a new PROMinator coming my way. There's been some neat stuff going on in the DIY PROM forum while I was gone.
Back on topic...I'm torn between building the 383 stroker with the L98 heads, or building the 350 up with some kind of fancy heads like aluminum Canfields or Dart Pro 1.
I want all the ruthless torque I can get under 5500 rpm.
What does everyone think of the Dart Iron Eagle Platinum heads? Looks like pretty good flow data from what I've found.

Those new Iron Eagle Platinum heads do look promising, but I haven't seen any 3rd person flow numbers or anyone that has them yet.

I'm running iron L98 heads on my 383. I had the 2.02 and 1.6" valves installed, bowls blended, and a few other mods to accomadate the 74211 LPE cam. Cost me $500 for all the head work and parts (valves, retainers, etc).
My eng runs out of air at abt 4800 RPM, but that's probably the TPI's fault. From 2500 to 4500 the eng pulls really hard. During highway roll-ons (65+ MPH) , it consistantly walks away from LT1s. :-)

Hey, I didn't know Lingenfelter died. Gotta love a guy that did so much for the TPI.
