steering shaft

I am putting SLP headers on my 91 Z28 and the only thing in the way is the steering shaft. Can some one tell me how to take it out? I have never taken one out, and I don't want to take the motor out.

there is a bolt and nut on each end of it. i tihnk you'll have to unbolt the stearing box or stearing column to get it out. not sure since i had all 3 out when i did mine.

you can get that off as it is,undo the plastic shield from the steering gearbox, slide it out of the way. loosen the 11mm bolt at the clamp on the steering gear. remove the bolt up near the fire wall. use a large flathead and some WD-40 to pry it loose, it will colapse where the square shaft is after a little persuasion. good time to refurbish or replace it while it's out, $77 at gmpartsdirect.com or $10 for the coupler rag-joint at autozone in the HELP* brand section.

I got those bolts out(that was easy). Now where do I need to pry on it? The shaft doesn't slide either way.

The help is appreciated.
