91 Formula TPI 5 Speed, chip or no?
I have a 91 5.0 TPI 5 Speed.
Aftermarket Exhaust, K&N filter on Throttle Body, Air Foil, Coolant Bypass... I will be replacing stock ignition system with all MSD...
The motor has quite a few miles on it, so I don't want to spend money on headers, pullies, etc.. I'll wait til I get the engine redone...
I know that MAP systems (which I have) need reprograming when modifications are made as opposed to MAF...
Should I bother with what I have now, or wait til I get a new engine... how much difference should I expect with what I got and a new hot chip??
Thanks
Rafael

IMHO, if you enjoy tuning the car, and making it run its best, why not get your feet wet with chip burning now?
You've got a basically stock engine, so your stock calibration should be reasonably close to correct, and you're not going to need to make drastic changes to get the car to run well. Later, when you've made significant internal changes to the engine, you'll already have a clue how to go about tuning it, instead of facing a steep learning curve just to get it driveable.
If you were asking if you should *buy* an aftermarket chip, no I wouldn't recommend that.

Why wait for a new motor to get things like headers? Unless you are planning a big block, or some oddball swap, then any headers that fit your worn out small block will also fit a new one.
