383 build-up, opinions
Well, I finally decided that I will be building a 383 rather than keep it as a 355. I ordered the crank tonight, the other parts will be ordered in the weeks to come. I am running a SCAT cast steel crank(internally balance), 6" Scat H-beam rods, and Most likely SRP dished pistons, the cam of choice will be the comp CC306. MY only question is: I have 2 bolt mains, I already have ARP main-stud kit, do I really need to convert to 4 bolt mains, or even splayed caps. I don't think this engine will be making over 500 hp. The other mods are in my SIG. What do you guys think? Should I def. do it now, or should I just go w/ the two bolt. That is what I need to know. Oh, and thanks in advance for the help!

I'm thinking you might as well go with splayed caps if your going with studs, since you have to have it align honed anyway. JMO

Doesn't anybody else have opinions on whether I should keep the two bolt mains, go 4 bolt, or splayed? Come on guys, let me hear what you think!

I'd convert if i was gonna use the car stictly for the track ie:6000rpm at all times
but for a street car in reality how often do you hold the car pinned for anylength of time?In short for the street id say no!
But if its a drag car chuck the 2 bolt block and buy a four!
Be sure to get it balanced and itll last ya a long time

Thanks man. It is more of a street car than anything. I bought an internally balanced one, and it will be professionally assembled. I have a little time to decide, but I do want this engine to last.

I'm running my 2 bolt L98 block, with ARP main studs. Also using an eagle crank and 5.7 H beams along with speed pro pistons. I havent had any problems yet. My builder said 2 bolt will hold up just fine as long as I'm not spinning it high.
