technical Q's on roller cam engines...
I'm doing a cam swap: ZZ4 cam into my new roller long block.
Does it matter which way new roller lifters are facing, oil holes forward, aft, inward toward nearest roller lifter? The appeared to be randomly positioned.
Is the cam thrust plate symetrical so it can be clocked any position the bolt pattern allows, as long as the correct side is facing the cam?
I didn't see a cam button. Is there one? or is it on the timing cover (didn't look)?

Liters can go either way, as long as the retainer fits them.
With the factory's bizarre roller stuff, you don't need a button. That retainer plate that goes behind the cam gear serves that function.
