have an ecm question

i have 87 5.0 carb camaro and it was running good yesterday cept we got the code 34 light again. after fixing that problem my dad started the car while the wires for reading the ecm diagnostics was still plugged in. could the ecm have gone bad even though it still flashes 12 three times. the engine is running really bad now and acting like its outof time. could this all be because of the ecm?
thanks alot
andrew

Starting the engine while A and B are shorted should nto cause the ECM to go bad. I have done this many times also to check if I am going into closed loop or not, by counting the number of flashes per second.

So I would say that it did not destroy the computer. There must be another problem somewhere.

thats comforting to hear, thanks. i guess we are just going to have to regroup and look again, the only other things that were changed after the last time we ran it (good) was the map sensor and the fan switch..could those have anything to do with it?
thanks again
