Hood Clearance w/various intakes....

Will an Edelbrock Torker II and carb w/drop base air cleaner fit under the stock hood?

How about a performer RPM?

If not, are there any single plane intakes that will fit with a carb and Drop base?

What kind of car? I forgot what you've got.

The only one I know of that might work is the Weiand Stealth part # 7525. That should fit if it's a Camaro. If it's a Firebird, I don't know. I would not recommend using a Torker II for anything; the car will go faster with a Performer RPM. There's been alot of dyno test results running around that have shown that. The older design intake is simply outdated.

Watch out for the "drop base" air cleaners. It hardly matters how tall the filter medium is, or how good the intake will flow, if the lid of the breather is lowered to 1" off the top of the air horn, which of course is what will end up happening if the manifold and carb are too tall. You end up just moving the restriction from under the carb to above the carb.

I run the Torker II under a stock 91 firebird hood. It fits with the drop base air cleaner, and the N2O plate. The RPM will not.

RB,

'83 T/A. I would like to get a manifold, (I already have a Carter 650 CFM Carb) and go to the strip on a T&T day, make afew passes, then swap my CFI for the carb/intake combo and see how much the CFI is choking my engine. But I want to get a manifold that both fits under the hood, and works with my poor-man's engine combo. The sig has most of the details. Thanks.

the performer RPM spreadbore fits udner my Stock Camaro hood, But barely. When I torque the Motor It smashes the air cleaner into the Hood.

A performer RPM and carter with a drop base air cleaner had 1" of clearance to the hood on my 86TA... plenty.
