We'll need a little more info from you. What year is the block? What kind of roller cam is it? The biggest point is that there are two GM roller cams. One is the type used in engines that came from GM with a roller cam, the other is an adaptation to use a roller cam in a block that came with a flat cam. If its a retrofit type roller cam, then yes you can put it in. The older block though will not accept a factory style roller cam.

It came out of an 88 IROC but it was a rebuilt engine so i dont know what it is. The block has the number 14093638 on it and on mortec.com it said flat or roller. dont understand what they mean
thanks alot
thanks alot
Can you look at the block? Roller blocks have a provision (bolt holes) to bolt a retaining plate on the front of the cam boss. Non-roller blocks have no bolt holes at all under the timing chain cover. Where did you get the roller cam?

All they mean is that the block was set up for the roller cam, but usually in the trucks, they used flat tappet. That's all. The lifter bores in the block are machined down for rhe GM roller cam retainers w/spider brace thingy
(I can't remember all the parts names.) But anyway, the block will still accept flat hyd. lifters. And it has the tapped holes in the oil valley to hold that spider brace thingy.
EDIT: BTW, I have that exact block myself that I am building for my car. 350. Is yours a 4-bolt? Mine is.
