The other day I notice that my car was missing (84 Z28) so I change spark plugs cap rotor button and wires. but it still missed so I pulled the fuel filter to notice that the fuel would no stop running out of the fuel line. so then I changed the fuel pump (mechnical) and the fuel filter and their was oil all in the old pump that would explain the nasty filter that I pulled out. now when I started my car their is a loud tapping sound that I think is comming from the valves but not sure. could I be looking at burnt valves or something more serious?PLEEESSSSEEE!!much needed help on this one guys. (t's been a long day)

 

Burnt valves dont make tapping noises, they just leak.

It could be a lifter that is weak and had all the oil forced out. That could cause a miss too.
