Fuel pump runs after key off

91 Formula, TPI Speed Density, the fuel pump will run for a 15 to 20 seconds after turning the car off. This does not seem like a normal condition. Does anyone have any insight why this would happen? Thanks for any response in advance!

I saw this happen on an 89 gta. The oil pressure sending unit was bad.

It can be completely normal as long as there is oil pressure that is above 4 PSIG. My '86 usually runs the pump after shutdown for at least ten seconds unless the oil is really hot and thin. Since I try to practice a cool-down after a hard run, and use Mobil 1, that doesn't happen very often.

The motor is recently rebuilt (3000 miles roughly) and I'am running Mobile 1 synthetic (10W30). My oil pressure when idling before shutdown is between 40 and 45 psig. I'am sure there isn't any negative consequences to this condition but it just seems to be rather odd. Thanks for your responses.

Mine has 48,000 miles (or, the same as 6,000 miles for an engine on regular oil), uses Mobil 1 10W30, and does precisely the same thing. And everything on it works as it did from the factory.

Here is the fuel pump circuit, which should explain the phenomenon:
