SR Torquer Valve Seats

I just picked up a set of SR Torquers and I see that the intake valve seats have a three angle grind. The exhaust valve seats are a single angle grind.

Any ideas as to why the exhaust valve seats are not three angle? From what I've read the exhaust flow on these heads could use a little improvement. Wouldn't a three angle grind help exhaust flow too?

Did you pick them up used? Maybe someone had the seats replaced, or had the valve seats recut on the exhaust side. I know on my torquer 305's they came with the 3 angle on intake and exhaust.

Yeah, mine were 3-angle on both intake and exhaust.

These are actually bare castings. I ordered them by mistake... Once again I was a bonehead... no wonder they were such a good price.....

Anyway, I'm about to return them and get assembled heads instead (which are what I had intended to order).

Well it's good to hear that I can assume that the built heads will have a three angle job on the exhaust seats. I don't know why the bare ones don't...

By the way did you do any work to your heads? It seems that they could use at the very least some gasket matching to open up their very small exhaust ports.

Mine are sitting in my room next to me at the moment. I gave them a full port and polish, gasket match, milled a few thousands off the deck, and got a fresh "competition" valve job done.

There was alot of room for improvement, hopefully I will get some more flow out of these now

FYI, I purchased bare castings as well...

Keep the bare castings. You don't want the assembled ones.

Give them a pocket porting, then get the valves & springs & such to complete them.
