fuel pump run on question

Hello,

I am to the point of trying to start my new engine. I turned the key and hear the fuel pump come on and then goes off. So far so good...Crank over the engine, not trying to get it to run, just checking things, switch the key off and I hear, I think, the fuel pump running for about 10 seconds, give or take. Has anyone had this happen.

Thanks

I've got two '86 IROCs. Both with TPI. Both do the same thing but the pump on the black one runs longer than the red one. Is also seems to run longer when the engine is cold and you start it up to move it out into the sun for a wash job and then shut it off. If the engine is hot and you shut it off it only runs for a couple of seconds. Mine have done it since I got the cars and it hasn't been a problem yet.

im thinking it's the oil pressure switch staying closed from the oil pressure, once the pressure drops the switch opens & the pump turns off.
i don't have a wiring diagram handy so im not sure if its normal or not, if the oil pressure switch is suppose to get power when the key is off then it is normal.
