Smog pump belt thrown, no start?

I was driving last night and my car stalled and now it wopn't start it did over heat last night and threw the smog pump belt could this be the reason that my car isn't starting.

How badly did it overheat? What happened when it stalled? What happens when you try to start it? Did the smog pump belt take anything with it? Could be many things my friend. Please give us some more info.

my bad it was the starter. it finaly went. just happened to be the same time as the belt.
