Piston to bore clearance.

Engine builders - what sort of clearance can I get away with? The Haynes manual lists a maximum of 2.7 thou, the Clymer manual lists 1.7 thou max. WTF?

my manual list .0017 to .0041 cleareance at the bottom of the piston. a lot will depend on the type of piston you're using and what the make recommends to use.

I was going to re-use the original cast pistons if they measured-up OK.

you shouldn't have any problems reusing the same pistons. you want to be careful when you have a block bored or go to aftermarket pistons.
