Was this cam a good choice for my 305?
I installed the Crane Compucam 2032 in my 87 305.
6. CompuCam Hydraulic Roller Camshafts for Computer Controlled Vehicles
Application Series & Grind Number
For 87-89 Corvettes, Camaros and Firebirds factory equipped w/350 TPI engines. Adj. Fuel Pressure Regulator (99470-1) is recommended for maximum performance. (50 state legal for listed applications, C.A.R.B. E.O. D-225-22). Basic RPM 2000-5500 CompuCam
2032
Cam Specifications
Degrees Duration @ .050 Int./Exh. Degrees Advertised Duration Int./Exh. Degree Lobe Separation Open/Close @.050" Cam Lift Int./Exh. Lash Hot Int./Exh. Gross Lift Int./Exh. 270 276 LS=112 .452 .465
It has a lopey idle, it seems to be running fine, but i dont think im getting all i can out of it. Its a little sluggish off the line and kinda pulls, but not as hard as it should. I think it pulled harder with the peanut cam....
It says the basic rpm out of the cam is 2000-5500... is that too high? I have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator dont know what fuel pressure i should set it to. Cant get it running right, need help. It also likes to stall when putting it in drive or reverse sometimes. I dont quite know what the timing is set at, it seems to be running fine. I think it needs a bit of fine tuning, but I was wondering what the ideal fuel pressure would be and what the ideal timing would be? Should i just advance it till it starts to ping and then back off? Im new at this and need some direction... thanks!

I would say its fine. The reason you do not have off idle responce is because its a higher duration cam. It Would be great all around cam in a 350 but in a 305 with a limited power band it wont do much by its self. Boost your fuel pressure gradualy to the point where the power increases and you will be fine. You might want to consider a cold air intake and some exhuast mods to match the cam.

Yea, I have a slp Catback exhaust and a custom made PVC ram air/cold air kit with TB coolant bypass and screens removed from the maf. Aslo ground down the egr walls behind the TB should be breathing pretty good... have a richmond 3.73 rear... so i guess the AFPR should be screwed down for more pressure.... how far down does that bolt usually go before im at maximum fuel pressure?? Dont have a guage... should make one...

I would go over to the tpi board and find out im not to certain when it comes to fuel injection but on my blazer screwing it counter clock wise "up" increases the pressure.
