With all the sensors on gm vehicles and the age of our computer controlled cars, I was wondering if anyone has experienced some problems regarding the aging of wiring leading to bad readings on the computer end of things. Things such as false O2 readings and such. Various bad contacts, higher resistance etc.

I'm wondering if it'll make a difference if i put all new wiring in the car. I am currently having some issues with console lights dimming, radio speakers going on and off, and for some reason my engine idles too low and the egr error code throws for apparently no reason as it gets vacuum and has no blockages and is movable. I'm hoping giving it all new wiring will help solve a lot of the little electrical issues i'm starting to see (voltages drops a little low even with my 140amp alternator during idle in drive).

So has anyone done this? have any idea how much it'll cost?

 

It's usually not the wiring itself, but the connections. Opening, cleaning, and re-greasing the WeatherPack connectors with silicoine grease can often solve some of the rogue problems encountered on our aging fleet.
