pistons

im looking forward to building a 383 engine out of a 350 block and put it in a third gen im wonder what type of piston i should use a forged or a Hypereutectic piston this will still be a street car and have about a 9.6 compression it wont be a high rpm engine but hopefully high torque. ill be posting periodically for more help with combinations thanks

If you stay naturally asperated there is no real reason for forged.

not trying to jack your thread- but i was just pondering the same thing. what is the limit of a hyper piston- in terms of hp, compression, and rpm's. i too am in the process of getting parts together for a 383- and i was wondering if i should go for forged or not. i am planning on more compression though- around 11:1 with aluminum heads and a cc306 cam. not planning on nitrous now- but some time or another i might throw a 50 shot to it. any thoughts or general rule of thumb for a hyper piston?

hypers equate to no power added there isn't really any other restrictions, other than common sense sort of things, like you won't see many in NHRA PS engines.
