coking?
What is coking? The GM performance parts book states that a heat sheild can be mounted under the zz series manifold [10185063] to prevent coking. To futher the question what is a heat sheild and when does it become necessary to use on a engine application?

Many people in columbia and cuba used to use their sbc powered vehicles to cure coco leaves before they made cocaine out of them (they would set the leaves on the intake, this was back in the early 80's). Once this was brought to general motors attention they put a stop to it by putting a heat sheild under the intake manifold to reduce the heat on the surface..... these reduced temperatures were not enough to cure the coco leaves. If your in the states (excluding southern Fla.) I would'nt worry about any "cokers" trying to steal your sbc powered vehicles to process their drugs.
