My car did this tonight. I steped on the gas and it took of then it just quit for one second then took off again like nothing happend. it happend twice. Once under acceleration and once cruising. The latter was hardly noticable but there.Has this happend to anyone and what could this be. its a 92 rs 305/tbi 99,000 thanks for your help.

 

Done a tune up recently? Might be your spark plugs.

 

Yeah, check the spark plugs and wires. The same thing happened to me and when it sputtered it shot out black smoke out of the exhaust! I changed the spark plugs and wires and it never happened again. Hope this helps.

1992 RS 3.1L Bone Stock

 

O.k. today it started fine and ran good this morning. then on my way home after it heated up(it was hot as hell today)it started again. this time it kept sputering under throtle and would backfire at the manifold. it idles fine. chacked gas cap for vacume lock. had some pressure release but it kept doing it. shut it off to have new tires put on and it ran fine on the way home. itwas shut off for about an hour during tire change. then later I went out and ran it a little. it didnot feel rite and the tach would jump under heavy throtle but revs smooth in park. any questions or more important any ideas whats wrong. please help new to 305's

 

OK I really need help with this.it runs fine when cool then fuc-s up when hot.any motor heads got any ideas. I'm going to change the plugs, cap, roter, wires ,fuel filter, etc.and next time I post ill use a better opening. by the way i live in south fla. where can i get 9mm wires and a high perfomance coil without ordering them through the mail.
