Are thesefilters worth buying?? How much do they help, and can you notice any differences on a stock 350 TPI??

you won't feel any "seat of the pants" difference. but these filters definitely do flow a lot more air. I did see about 1 - 2 mpg. increase. The shop I go to most often has a flow demonstration using a sealed box and a fan pushing air up a clear tube w/a ping pong ball in it. you can leave the box open, put in either a stock paper filter, or a K&N unit. and watch how high in the tube the ball goes. the K&N is almost as good as no filter at all. the paper filter barely moved the ball and a dirty paper filter wouldn't lift it at all. I think the K&N flows around 850cfm and a clean paper filter at about 400cfm. go for it.

I'm just gonna throw this in for informations sake. Ive got one of those Edelbrock Pro-Flo triangular foam cleaners on my engine. Not only is it washable with soap and water, it flows like 800 cfm. I used to have a 14" circular one, but it was drop base and didnt clear the fuel line on my new Holley. The new one looks sorta retro, and It doesnt require oiling(the one thing I always hated about my old K+N). Just throwing in my 2 cents.

I wouldn't use that Edelbrock if I were you, I used to have a Mustang and that was sitting on top of my 302, it sure looked good, but as soon as the car backfired on me, the foam melted and was sucked into the carburetor. Just something to think about.

I'd get that triangular thing off of there if I was you. It doesn't flow worth a crap, and it's real fragile. It's strictly a show piece, for looks, not a go-fast thing at all. Look at how little filter area it has compared to even a regular paper one; a plain paper one probably has 5 times as much filter medium area. It's costing you horsepower, sucking in hot underhood air, probably causing a restriction because it's so close to the hood, and like the other guys said, they're famous for getting ingested into the engine. I've known more than one person that has happened to.

Drop-base air cleaners are usually a step backwards for another reason: the lid often ends up so close to the carb air horn that it creates a restriction there. Most of the people using them are kidding themselves into thinking that just because they've got a 14x3 filter, there's plenty of air flow; in reality, alot of those actually clear the air horn by less than 1½". It doesn't matter how big the filter is if all the air has to squeeze through a little crack like that.

I tried one the triangle filters before I bought my 9" x 3". the top left the mesh pattern in my hood pad. Can't be flowing to well with the top pressed into the hood pad.
