350 or 383 ?

I will be building a new motor for my '86 Z28 this fall/winter and i'm debating whether to do a 383 or 350. I will be starting from an '84 4-bolt 350 block. My concern is that the 383 will require a host of other mods i am not ready for or would like to avoid,if possible. And probably my biggest concern is emissions. We have a pretty good test in Northern Ohio. To my thinking, i would have to dump the 19lb injectors, and maybe the 7 5/8 rearend (at least eventually). My 700-r4 might be in serious jeopardy also even though i just got a performance rebuild on it. I think i could squeeze by with both these with a 350. I also run street tires (P255/50/16 rear) and do not plan on running slicks. This would be a TPI motor.
I would be interested to hear from people who have 383's as far as emissions and what parts needed replacement to handle the extra torque. The motor will get a performance cam and aluminum heads(not sure which ones yet).
I would like the car to run the 1/4 in the low 13's, maybe the occassional high 12.

I'm doing an eagle 388 buildup now. http://www.geocities.com/joelol75 All the problems I had were minor, I had to grind some off the back pan rail for clearence and the rod nuts lightly scrubbed the bottoms of the bores and #2 and #6 rod bolt tops rubbed the camshaft. You might not have probs with a smaller cam (Mines 234 dur 292 adv 114 LSA)

Just a quick test fit (I saved some old bearings just to rest the crank on, and with a rod and piston combo (No rings) Fitted each rod to the crank and spun it.

Once you're sure, then use the new bearings. These kits are beutiful, just make sure to get it balanced, they are a MILE off!!!
