Can my IROC pass emisions w/o EGR ?

I have a 305 TPI LB9 motor in my iroc and put L98 corvette heads on it so the egr no longer works. I left it on like the exhaust passages are still there and have never gotten an error code. I know the car should be warm but what about the gas. High octane or low? Any additive I should add? I know the egr is used to cool the combustion chambers but the aluminum heads disipate heat better so is it a wash? please tell me what you think. I have to have the car tested next week. Thanks.

It depends on what they check... if they just sniff it in Cleveland, it might pass. If they actually open the hood to verify that all the devices are installed and operating, it will fail. Check the laws in your locality.

My 83 passed in Memphis, where all they did was a sniffer test at idle. It had a 400, XR282HR roller cam, ported 186 heads, Holley 800 carb, and no EGR. It did have working AIR and a cat.

It should pass fine unless they check the EGR to see if it works or not, then you are screwed.

to test the car they drive it on rollers to load test it. this is the test I am worried about. They do not check to see if the emisions are working, just that they are there. I also have a chip in my car. should I put the stock one back in?

If the car is tuned right, and more importantly has an intact converter that works, you should have no problems passing the sniffer.

The EGR you should just leave installed, it wont do anything anyways.
