NO SPARK please help
NO SPARK please help
I am getting no spark to the plugs, so far i have replaced the battery, the plugs, the wires, the coil, the module. Still I get no spark, what else can i check or replace.
Tiny,
You neglected to say which car/engine you have, so I'll throw out some generic ideas:
1. Check the distributor cap and rotor for damage, corrosion, and carbon traces;
2. Bypass the EST module by unplugging the bypass connector at the firewall;
3. Check the pickup coil resistance in the base of the distributor. The coil should have between 500-1,500 ohms across the winding, and infinite resistance to ground from either connection;
4. Inspect the reluctor for cracks and damage;
5. Check the capacitor next to the HEI module for shorting. The resistance reading should start low and slowly build to a higher resistance. If the resistance remains low, replace the capacitor. (Some engines do not have this capacitor);
6. Check the tachometer filter for grounding, or disconnect it to diagnose the system;
7. Check back with results.
