Vader / Techies... steering column help!
I tackled the seemingly common problem of the loosening reverse torx bolts in the steering column. Kind of an exploration, me being an ASE Master School Bus Tech and all... how tough could it be?
Well, it wasn't tough... till...
as I was re-assembling and getting ready to install the signal switch THERE WAS A LITTLE SRRING that I had never seen before in the bottom of the collar! It is a little spring steel, folded over, lazy "C" shape with a folded clip type arrangement on one end, 1-1/4" long, with a little burr at the apex of the "c" portion.
In searching the postings I have seen some great pics, but none with this little guy!
Thanks in advance!

Kennj,
If I understand you correctly, you are describing the contact spring that resides next to the lock cylinder. Is there a small plastic block molded at one end?

Sounds like you are describing the plastic block with two copper contacts at appox 45* angle upward and to the left that is directly under the cylinder... if so, it ain't that one. This apparently has no plastic attached (maybe it did at one time?). Wish I could send a drawing.

Kenn,
If the buzzer switch is in place, you may be referring to the spring clip that holds the buzzer contacts in place:
For what kind of column/vehicle is this?

Thanks a bunch to you both! That is the clip... I would have never guessed it came off of that!
One more question...(BTW, the car is an '84 TA)as I was "exploring" the key began to turn with no resistance... I suspect that the actuator came off of the rack. Any suggestions for getting to that? I was hoping that the mysterious spring was the prob...
Thanks again!
Kenn.
Nope, after further investigation I discovered the actuator rack BROKE
I read another thread that said that when the wheel tilted up it broke the rack... same thing here, I guess... as I was working at one point the tilt snaped to the top hard... oh well!
