please help

I bought cam COMP CAM 12-314-4 for my 88 trans-am 305 TPI. I was informed that this isn't a roller cam. does anyone know this for sure before I return it tomorrow? also, what would be a good roller cam with approx the same specs? .44 lift in/exh dur 212@ .05 sep 112 thanks

Their 12 series cams are for earlier model engines, without the goofy retainer plate system. It will work in your car if you put flat tappet lifters in it and leave the retainer plate out.

For a roller cam that will work with your existing setup, try a Comp 08-300-8, which is a 262HR-12.
