Quick flexplate?

Hello everyone,

I just want to verify that a 153 tooth flexplate is standard for a 700R4 trans. and a tpi V8. Specifically my car is a 1991 Pontiac Trans Am with a 305 HO. I am changing to a 383 but keeping the trans. Would there be any benifit by going with another type of flexplate?

Thanks,
Jim

That is the standard flexplate.

One advantage of another type of flexplate is having one that is intended for an externally balanced crank, if that's what you have. Or, 2-piece rear main seal crank, if that's what you have.

What type of crank does your 383 have?

The crank is a cast Eagle 1 piece rear main seal. The machine shop that is building my engine said I could go with either plate. I guess I should just get another 153 tooth plate for simplicity. Right?

Thanks for the help,
Jim

If the crank is internally balanced, which it probably is.

153 tooth would be easy enough.
