What do I need to do?? please help
I own a 82 Z28, and I want to add lower gears, probably 3.42 posi or 3.73, and I also want Disc brakes, so I figured that it would be alot cheaper to buy a used rear end that already had lower gears with disc brakes, so when I find one, what will I need to change as far as my brake system goes? because I would be changing from drum brakes to Disc brakes in the rear, I know the axle will bolt up, its just the brake issue, what would I need to buy, and what cost would I be looking? and does anyone have a rear end forsale to meet what im looking for? let me know please...

I'm in the process of doing the same thing. In addition to the rear axle itself figure on spending a little over $100 on other parts. For the rear brakes get yourself a rebuilding kit for the calipers (or spend some more money and just buy new calipers), a new brake hardware kit, and new pads. Replacing the rubber lines is also a good idea, preferably with braided steel. If needed, resurface or replace the rotors. For the rest of the brake system you need a new proportioning valve for the 4 wheel disc setup, or you can get an adjustable proportioning valve if you want more control over it. A new master cylinder is also a good idea as 4 wheel disc masters usually have larger bores. This is also the perfect time to do your front brakes and those brake hoses as well. Since bleeding the brakes is required anyway spend a little more time and completely flush the system out with synthetic fluid while you're at it. Depending on the year of the rear end you get, you might need to swap your park brake lever and cable too.

I simply stuck a 91 rear with the PBR calipers in my 83... no prop valve or MC changes. I got about a 8" the piece of the brake line (metric) with the rear, so I flared it to a convenient size, cut the car's line (standard) and flared it to the same size, and used a brass union to hook them up. Works great. As I undersood it, cars that came with that kind of brakes use the same prop valve and MC for both drum and disk, and the brakes are vastly superior to the older rear disks besides.
