Rebuilt Motor Breakin Procedure
this winter i had my whole shortblock and the rest of the motor redone...i had the block down to bare block, then i got new cam bearings, crank bearings, new cam (comp cam), the crank was turned .010...then i got new highlift springs, pistons and piston rings...so everything on the motor is pretyt much brand new....i'm wondering how i should go about breaking it in?? i heard some people saying you have to start it up, then let it sit at like 2500 rpms for like 20 minutes striaght....is this true? i saw on horsepower TV, when they rebuilt the LSGUN's engine LS1, they started it up, ran a dyno run and beat the hell outta it with all new internals....so i'm just looking for suggestions on what I should do when i fire this thing up...
yes, an ls1 can be ran hard right out of assembly, wanna know the secret? Roller lifters.
Flat Tappet lifters have got to be broken in as you stated, so anything basically, unless converted, 86 and below, needs a nice camshaft breakin period.

Since your all roller, you have no break in. Jsut fire it up, set the timing and start checking all the other things to make sure it's all in order before you take it out and abuse it.
All three of the past roller motors we built we fired Fri night, driven around the lbock to make sure everything worked again, loaded on the trailer and beat to death racing on Sat./Sun.
Roller motors cannot be beat!!!

okay so i know my motor will take very little breakin, but what about the rest of my drivetrain...I sent my tranny out to get rebuilt, and he said he put in double amount of clutches and high performace accersories...then i got a fully rebuilt rearend with a new eaton posi and 3.73 motive gears...what should be done to break those in?
