Here we go
Anybody living in North Carolina? You might be as lucky as me. I just went and got my 87 camaro emissions inspected for the last time. That's right, the last time. Now it's time to have some fun.
The body is straight, no bondo, never been wrecked. Interior is ok, going to replace all of it. Suspension wise - widen the wheel base, fatter tires, better shocks and struts, drop it an inch, strenghthen the body... Going to rebuild the rear end, but I haven't decided what to do with that yet. The only problem I'm having is deciding what to do with the engine. I want a daily driver, but I must have power. Give me some ideas. Money is no object. Just remember - the emissions hoses and all that garbage still have to be in the engine compartment, JUST NOT NECESSARILY HOOKED UP!!!
Original : 1987 Camaro Sport Coupe 305 4bbl auto, no power options, t-tops
Completed : Interior is almost completely redone, IROC instrument cluster

Welcome aboard.
Not sure exactly what threshhold you crossed, but here I'll be able to do my last test next month (needs to be tested/inspected every other year), then next year it will be eligible for 5 year "collector plates" - and collector plate vehicles don't need the testing/inspection.
I've already done a lot, as you can see from the sig. You should do similarly, at least replace all of the exhaust with headers, cat if necessary, pipe if not, and cat-back, and do something about that stock single-snorkel air cleaner. Then, you can either upgrade the existing 305, or slide a 350 in there.
You don't need to eliminate the computer controls, as they do as well on the street for daily and performance driving as they do reducing emissions.
