Noisy Headlight
Noisy Headlight
I have been checking out my headlights lately since I just got hit in the front driver's side corner. Both headlights still flip up and shine light, but they both make a scraping sound, like metal on metal. The driver's side light makes more noise than the passenger side light. Both lights don't seem to be rubbing on anything when they open or close, as I have eyeballed them as my gf opens and closes them. Is it just a matter of oiling the moving parts ? And what parts might those be ? I think I have found one rotating rod which might take some oil. Maybe they have always been noisy. I haven't noticed until now, but I haven't been checking them until now.

Today both headlights are quiet again, when opening. Yesterday it was raining. I guess the wetness made them noisy.

The clicking noise is probably from the internal gear being stripped. If thats the case you can take apart the motor and turn the gear 180* or replace the gear altogether.

Good question although it has been satisfactory fixed by rain.
Ive never bothered to check what moving parts can be lubed. Is there any parts that could be lubed to reduce noise? My head lights sound freaky! Baaahhhhannnm.

Well, I thought the rain was causing the noise, but tonight it was dry, and after I got back home, the headlights were back to their old squeaky, scraping sound ! Where can I lube these things, if antwhere ?? Tech articles where are you ?
