NEW MOTOR Fuel problem
I just put in a new motor, had a problem getting oil pressure, finanly got pressure, took it for a ride and the car stalled about a 1/2 mile from my house. It didn't seem that the fule pump was working, cause it wouldn;t pressurize when i turned on the kye, (I have two gauges). Also, no fule pump sound, and ofcoarse it wouldn't start. Had to get a tow home. Anyway, ideas? How do you diagnose this? isn't there a power test for it? is it a relay or the pump. the car sat for 4 years, but there was a new walbro 355 in there. ideas? or is it something else? thanks

If when the key is turned and the pump is not priming the fuel rails then the problem could be the pump itself, the relay on the drivers side firewall, the fuse in the box, or the fuse up by the tank. Get yourself some wire and jack the rear of the car up real high to access the fp wiring. Run the wire you bought from the battery to the fp connector and see if the pump runs....if it does look at the other things I metioned. If not....time to drop the tank and replace the pump....might also want to replace the filter while you are under there.

good ideas, thankyou:
could it also be the oil switch or the new oil sender making a incorrect signal, although my oil gauge was reading fine b4 the motor shut down. its just wierd that after i fixed the missing galley plugs,..pressure was up, then i take it for a 2 minute ride and the car dies. SUCKS! I hope it really is the fuel and not something else motor related. -J

it was the 20 amp fuse that protects against no oil pressure. and when i changed it I found that I have no oil pressure again, except this time th galley plugs are in. Ideas? I fear that I might have spun a bearing on this new motor. -J
UPDATE:
just disconnected the blower and now the pressure is perfect.....I don't think it was the blower, but maybe the sender was clogged. I have no clue what the hell the problem was. seems to be okay now. I'm going to try to rig something up so i can run it without the blower hooked up to break it in.
