Oil sender?
I have a '89 firebird with the TBI 305. I believe my oil sender unit is toast. (0 psi on the factory gauge some of the time, with no ticking, clacking, or knocking) Could someone point me in the right direction as to where I can get the part? And where exactly the part is on the car?

Dont do what i did (waste 2 hours trying to get it off) They sale a oil pressure socket. Make sure you get that. You might need to get 2 of them. One bigger than the other. Also get the deep kind and put some teflon tape on the treds of the unit. Good luck

They teflon tape is to seal the threds from leaking oil.You sure dont want an oil leak.

indeed. but do not put to much teflon tape on it since the threads do need to make a metal to metal contact. else it will not ground the thing to the bloc causeing it to act funny (at least that is what it did with my single wire one.

Fixed the problem.
Well, I picked up the sender, socket, & some teflon tape. Changed it out during my oil change. Did take a while to find a wrench to get the original off. (I could only get the socket to fit the new sender) But, I ended up getting the old one off with a
1-1/4" open end wrench pretty easily. (The new one is a 1-1/16" socket) Just wanted to add an ending to this thread that so many threads lack at times, and also say thanks to those who helped!
