There is, and unfortunately, I'm at my work computer w/o my links, if no one posts it in the meantime, I'll post it when I can hit this place on my machine.

I saw one myself a few years ago, but can't remember it. When all was said and done, the fram paper filters flowed the best as far as paper filters go. i used those on my old carb'd 73 camaro with no problems in a 14x3 open filter. You could tell that the fram was actually about a 1/4" less in diam. than the rest, but it was the one listed as a replacement for 14x3 open element. guess that's why it flowed better........less media to flow thru (LOL). I use them now in my 3rd gen. can't really tell a difference between them and an amsoil or K&N. At least to me.

It's not exactly a scientific study, but our local speed shop had a demo set up by K&N. It was a sealed box with a blower attached. It pulled air thru either and open hole, a paper filter, or a K&N filter. The air was vented out thru a tube in the top w/ a ping pong ball in it. The more air passing thru, the higher the ball went. All I can tell you is that the K&N sent the ball almost as high as no filter. Like I said, not scientific but fun to see.
