ok heres my problem. well its more like problems. 1) when i start my car its blowing out white smoke. 2)when driving my car it hesitates when the rpm's are below around 2000. also when i am driving down the road and the rpm's are less than 2000 it hesitates and the car starts jumping around. i dont know if these problems are related but its getting bad and i dont want to have to take it to a shop if i dont have to.

 

oh yeah i forgot to say that i have a 1987 305 tpi automatic.

 

For the first one, something is leaking into your combustion chamber, could be fuel injectors. You could check and see if pressure bleeds off of the rail quickly after the car is turned off to tell you.

For the second problem, when was the last time you changed the plugs, o2 sensor, cap and rotor? Fuel filter? You probably just need a tune up. Any engine lights? Another possibility is a vacuum leak.

 

I'd say give it a tune up and then go from there. It's most likely that.

ok. the plugs and wired are brand new. as well as the cap and rotor. and a new fuel filter. ill check the o2 sensor. yes sometimes the engine light comes on. i also forgot to say that it is running hot. i have a 195 stat in there and it sometimes runs as hot as 220.

 

MY CAR RUNS ABOUT 180-185 WITH AC OFF ,180-200 WITH AC ON GOING OVER 40MPH AND 200-220 WHILE GOING UNDER 40 MPH.

EDE WROTE ME 220* sitting isn't bad, most people don't like it but it isn't bad. most thirdgen f bodies run in the 180 - 200 plus area from the factory.

OH ABOUT THE SMOKE IF IT IS WHITE SMOKE WHEN YOU FIRST START IT IT IS PROBABLY JUST YOUR VALVE GUIDES , NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT ALL CHEVY USUALY START DOING THIS AFTER 75 OR SO THOUSAND MILES. I DONT THINK IT IS YOUR INJECTORS UNLESS IT IS HARD TO START OR BLOWING BLACK SMOKE
