Every time you get in the car and decide to start revving think about how much work went into it and then decide how high you want to go. I would keep it under 3000 until you atleast have a few hundred miles on it, and even then I wouldn't go too much higher for too long until you have 500 miles and an oil change...

i know what you mean...i've tached it up to like 2800, and I just dont' want to go anymore....i'll keep that in mind, and keep it under 3 grand....once its road worthy i'm gonna go on like a 500 mile ride and switch to some synthetic oil, and finish up the break in....how many miles should I get on it before I start street racing it? remember i also have a brand new posi unit in the rear with brand new 3.73 gears..along with a fully rebuilt/built trans...would like 1500 miles be alright? or should I wiat longer?i've put tons of work into this thing, not to mention the amount of money, and i'm an 18 year old kid, I can't afford to be breaking parts already, so thats why I wanna get the break in procedure right...

do you want a real answer to the street racing question?
the sad truth is, if you beat on it, you will break it.. or at least cause premature wear
sure maybe you can make 300hp, but using it all the time will take its toll
of course more often then not on something other then the engine though

Break in
Break it in like your going to run it.
Cycle it, Accelarate it and decelarate it.
All lot of that stuff you hear on breakins is old school myth.
You want run it at different RPM ranges under load for a few
hundred miles and then go for it.

I agree there really is no such thing as engine break in these days. With all the technology and testing that has gone into engines and component designs, the engine is broken in almost immediately.
But back in the day, when they didn't have the technology and components we do today you had to follow a specific breakin procedure or your motor would be harmed.
I'd say you'd be safe to push it all the way up past 5000 without a problem, and somewhere around 3/4 throttle. For the first 500 miles atleast. Then treat it like you stole it.
