Help! Milodon, melling and pick up

Has anyone used the Milodon oil pan on a Thirdgen? (Part # 30701) I was sold this by a local shop for my '85 Camaro and am having trouble finding the correct pick up. Also, Milodon confirms it will work on my car but it's 7.75 deep and I'm concerned about K-member and "Y" pipe clearance.
I bought the recommended pick up for a bolt on because I don't have a welder and I found out later it was for the Melling 55hv which I'm told is taller. Now I have the part # 18312 for the standard Melling 55.
I seen to stay away from the HV but it will fit with the pick up I already have and read it provides smoother operation affecting the distributer.

Any suggestions?

i'd cut and weld the pick up as i needed to make it work, but i have a welder sort of mentality.
