350 with a T5 tranny..big problem

Me and my cousin are dropping a 350 small block into my 82 Z28. It has a manuel T5 transmission which is tilted at 18 degrees. One big problem though....we cant find a compatable starter for the project. we need a starter with an offset bolt patern but also enough clearance from the nose of the starter to the top of the starter. we tried many different GM starters and have not come across one like this but there must be one out there.

I know there must be someone who has done this same project and has had the same problem as we do because the T5 is a very popular tranny upgrade in 3rd gens and the 350 is also a very popular upgrade so there must be many people out there who have had this same problem. any help and/or part# would be appreciated. thanks.

I must be missing something here. A T5 is not an upgrade for a thirdgen, it was a factory option. I put a '72 350 in my 84 and used the flywheel and starter from the original 305 with no problems.

we're trying to put a '69 350 in, we used the flywheel off of my 305 and were gonna use my old starter but its not fitting. the 305 was a straight bolt starter and we need an offset for the 350 but we cant find one with the right amount of clearance.

in an 82 a t-5 would be an upgrade as they were not available til' 83...

And you most likely won't. At least one that will work with the combination.
