Need Valvetrain Help. Located in Eastern Ohio.

I am building a new motor for my Camaro, and need to check valve-to-piston clearance with TRW domed pistons. I also need to check pushrod length. I need 1 rocker arm and a checking pushrod. I want to use 1.6 rocker arms, and I can use either a 3/8" or 7/16" stud. If someone can help me out by letting me borrow, or meeting me here in Ohio to check the clearances and pushrod length, I'd really appreciate it.

Does anyone have expeirience with these pistons? They're part # 2304, with a 0.125" dome installed 0.023 in the hole. I plan to use a thicker head gasket. The cam is Comp Cams part #12-622-9, and it has 0.500/0.510" lift with 1.5 rockers. With 1.6 rockers, it would be 0.544/0.533".

Next question is about rockers. I'm considering Harland Sharp, Summit, and Scorpion. I know the Harland Sharp's are good. Anyone have ideas on the others, or another brand I should be looking at?

Not sure of your experience level but... I simply do a trial and fit mock up. During the trial and fit, use modelers clay in the valve reliefs on top of the pistons to verify appropriate clearance. Once the piston to valve is GTG, use some form of marking compound on the top of the valves (ex..permanent marker, tool die). Then spin the motor through by hand and verify the witness mark. There's plenty of posts on this board to help you along the way.

"Comp Cams part #12-622-9, and it has 0.500/0.510" lift with 1.5 rockers. With 1.6 rockers, it would be 0.544/0.533". "

FYI...That doesn't add up.

Comp makes a good roller rocker, but I'd also check out Crane's gold roller rockers. Just a suggestion. The modeler clay for checking your valve to piston clearance was an excellent answer as well. Also, your cam lift would be 0.530 intake and 0.540 on the exhaust with the 1.6 ratio.

Yea, I got the lift numbers reversed in the original post. I was planning on using the clay and permanent marker methods to check clearances. But what I really need is to get a hold of a 1.6 rocker arm. I don't want to buy a whole set only to find out I won't have enough valve to piston clearance. However, if Summit or Jegs would be willing to take them back after I used them to check, then that would be alright, but I'd hate to take the chance of them not taking them back and me being stuck with a set I couldn't use.
