bad fuel injector!!!!!!!!what to do?

i own a 1988 iroc z 350 tpi and today i found out that one of my fuel injectors is stuck open . the car starts really hard and people say when my car shifts gears when i come onto it there is black smoke .I was wondering if this will hinder my cars performance alot and what is the best way to go about fixing them or replacing them .is there any ways to have them rebuilt?I have seen some accel fuel injectors in my camaro performer magazine but i don't know much about them.

How do you know its stuck open? Have you checked the wiring to the injector? I believe the injectors open with the computer grounds them, so you want to check for a frayed wire.

One fuel injector stuck open should cause a lot of black smoke at start up, because the fuel would leak into the intake manifold and flood the cylinder. Does that happen? Have you pulled the spark plugs?

yes my mechanic specializes in chev vetes and camaros he said after i shut the car off the fuel pressure still reads 45 psi or somethin like that the car starts really hard and it seems to be getting worse and worse on gas .and when i start it there is a mix of black and blue smoke because my valve seals are bad too .

If after you shut the car off the fuel pressure holds at 45psi., then a leaking fuel injector is NOT your problem, and you should seek out the help of a better mechanic. An injector that is held open would drop the fuel pressure very rapidly. Pull the plugs and check them. If an injector is leaking the plug in that cylinder will smell strongly of gas. Is there any gas in your oil after the car sits for awhile? If not, then you have ruled out leaky injectors even further from your analysis. Have you checked your oxygen sensor?

If a fuel injector was stuck open or leaking, the pressure on the rail would bleed off when you turn the car off, because fuel would continue to leak through the open injector.
