Breather pipe

My 83 305 is about to get an Edelbrock carb and manifold "kit".
Looking under the bonnet at the engine, the right hand rocker [valve cover] cover breather pipe goes into the manifold, on the left hand bank theres another breather, wheres the best place to route the larger metal pipe to?
I was going to put a junction on the air filter pan and let it vent back into the air filter behind the element to mix with the intake gas, as it would have done originally.
Any better\good ideas about this, or any reason why not?
Btw all original emmision gear has been chucked away, so atm it vents into the engine bay and probably the car interior too!!
Thanks for any help.

The one on the left side should go to the base of the carb. That's the PCV line, and you should have a PCV valve in the valve cover hooked to that line.

The one on the right side originally went to a filter in the air cleaner housing. If you aren't using the original air cleaner, then you can put a breather type cap in that valve cover. The purpose is to let filtered air into the crankcase to purge blowby gases out of the crankcase and into the intake stream via the PCV valve on the other side.
