My car keeps stalling at red lights or stop signs (ie. when stopped). I'm not sure what the problem is. I talked to a buddy of mine and he said that since i disconnected the negative from the battery on my chevy, the computer deleted itself and it needs to "relearn". I did what a mechanic told me to do leaving the car in drive and having my foot on the break for 20 mins and it seemed to work for a little bit, but every now and then the check engine light comes on and it starts right back where is left off.

When i'm slowing down, it tends to want to stall and revs up by itself then down. However, when i firmly press on the breaks and hold, it doesn't rev up or anything and stays at a steady 1000. Any ideas on what could be the problem/s???????
