What would you Do?

This is not a whats the best oil question? I need some suggestions.
I have a 305 I pulled from a t/a going in my 88 firebird this weekend. This is not permanent, I plan on getting a 350 eventually in a year or so.
While its out would you buy a gasket set and replace all the gaskets? Or let it hang in there for a year.
Also Would you run reg, syn blen or full syn oil?
This engine has to be reliable for now.

I have some other questions too.
The 305 i pulled has a mech fuel pump on the side.
This is a four bar carb, Do I have to drop the tank and disconnect the electric fuel pump or can I just cut the wires and leave it in there and run the mech pump?

Also the 83 t/a has rear disc brakes. Yes I know the rear brake fittings do not fit the 88, so how do i make them fit?
thanks

If the "new" engine has obvious leads. Fix 'em.

Just run dino oil.

If the car was originally tbi, get a regulator, and use the intank pump, if it was tpi, get a regulator with a return line.

a tune-up would not hurt either.....

Not sure about the rear.
