Dan,

I have a couple of similar models. They are the civilian version of the SEO vehicles. You can find well-used 9C1 Caprices at many auctions, discount car lots, and auto brokers. There is a car dealer about 90 miles west of you that used to get them regularly from Illinois and Indiana. Lately they have been getting more of the Ford Drowned Clitorias and "Interceptors" with the 4.6L tinker toy engine. Periodically I'll see a Caprice, but they don't sit on the lot very long. You could hunt down a real Impala, but it'll cost you a bit more.

You could also check the classifieds at www.TheHerd.com

There are about 15 of them listed on the page now.

I almost would rather have a plain jane white 9C1. It's fun to have people move out of your way There are a few in the classifieds here, not sure if they are the LT1s. Where is that dealer at? I live about 40 min west of chicago.

around where i live there are many for sale. my buddy bought one and i've installed quite a few mods on it for him. running mid 14's which is respectable for a tank, but it sure isn't no sport's car. should be easy to find in auto trader type magazines with idiots listing them as "fast" (yeah right), collectable (not with the miles you get them at), or "with corvette engine" (which almost none have, why change the engine when the stock LT1 is a good start). good luck.

Dan,

If you're not sure the car has an LT1, check the RPO label inside the trunk lid. You could also look at the VIN. The eighth character should be a "P" if th eengien is an LT1. 1993 and earlier cars had the code "7" engine - a TBI equipped 350, the "E" engine, which was a TBI 305, or the 256 inch "Z" engine. A 9C1 car should have the 350, however.

The lot I mentioned is in Loves Park, north of Rockford. A to Z Auto, 815-986-3981. Thsi is NOT an endorsement, just information.
